✨ I was an Art Director in one of the top Advertising agencies but was laid off after I disclosed my depression diagnosis
✨ During my time at the agency, my ex-boss labelled me an 'underperformer', and I lost my creative confidence
✨ P.S. I was one of the top students in NAFA and have won numerous academic and industrial awards — it just doesn't make sense to be labelled as an 'underperformer'
✨ Years of self-development made me realise that my previous agency's dynamics and hierarchy had caused my depression
✨ I became a designer for Uber. Uber was acquired on my 25th birthday — hello, quarter-life crisis
✨ At 25, I became the Creative Lead at a tech company, which shut down a few months after I left
✨ I was the Content Creative Lead designing regional assets with the Content Lead to support Dan Neary, Vice President of Asia Pacific at Facebook (now Meta)
✨ I am a self-taught commercial prop and food stylist; I styled for KFC, BRAND'S Essence Of Chicken, Lee Hwa Jewellery, Carte d'or, Circles Life and FairpriceXtra
On Winnie's brand, Gold & Behold
✨ In the early days of Gold & Behold in 2017, I crafted concrete pieces from my home bathroom while struggling with depression
✨ In 2020, after having my product designs, photography, and website descriptions replicated from crafters locally and internationally, I took a 3 months break to re-centre my brand's purpose as my depression and anxiety came back
✨ Finally, in 2021, I became Singapore's First Modern Kintsugi artist and was featured in Straits Times, Zaobao and more
✨ I have since hosted workshops for Meta, Loewe, Fresh, National Museum of Singapore, various schools and hospitals
✨ At Gold & Behold, we advocate for mental wellness, healing and upcycling with over 2080 Modern Kintsugi attendees and have upcycled over 2590+ defective wares
